Santahar Railway Station – Train Schedule, Ticket Booking and Contact Information

Santahar Railway Station, located in Adamdighi Upazila of Bogra District, is one of the most significant railway junctions in Bangladesh. Every day, hundreds of passengers and around 30 trains, including intercity, mail, general mail, and freight trains, pass through this station.
To improve connectivity between Kolkata in West Bengal and North Bengal in undivided India, as well as Assam, Tripura, and Nagaland, a meter-gauge railway line was constructed alongside the existing broad-gauge line. This new route extended eastward from Santahar to Dinajpur, Rangpur, and Lalmonirhat via Bogra. As a result, Santahar Station was upgraded to Santahar Junction.
Between July 2014 and June 2015, the station generated approximately 81.04 million taka in revenue. The Santahar rail yard is the largest in Bangladesh.
History of Santahar Railway Station
From 1878, traveling by rail from Kolkata to Siliguri required two stages: first, a 185 km journey from Kolkata (Sealdah) to Damukdia Ghat on the Padma River’s south bank, followed by a ferry crossing, then a 336 km train ride from Saraghat to Siliguri. That year, the Darshana–Parbatipur broad gauge railway opened, and Santahar station was established.
In 1899–1900, a meter-gauge line from Santahar to Phulchhari was built, making Santahar a junction by 1901. The Kolkata-Siliguri line was gradually converted to broad gauge, with key sections updated by 1924. After 1947, the station changed its name from Sultanpur to Santahar.
